Members of the graduate community should feel welcomed and supported when they are seeking help to resolve conflict.
When you talk with a G2G Peer Advisor or the Manager, CRC, about ways to manage or resolve a specific conflict or concern, our discussion is confidential, subject to certain exceptions. As set out in the CRC Terms of Reference, the exceptions are:
- You give us your express permission to talk with someone outside of the CRC;
- There is a compelling health & safety or emergency reason for disclosing the information;
- We are contacted by the U of T Office of the Ombudsperson to disclose information confidentially on the basis that a concern has been raised with that office; or
- We are legally required to do so.
In other words, we will not share information relating to specific concerns with anyone outside of the CRC, including SGS, your department/Faculty or supervisor, our families, friends, colleagues or any other members of the U of T community. We do collect anonymous data about our discussions in order to identify trends and improve training and services. All aggregate data is reviewed by the CRC to ensure that it is non-identifiable before it is shared with the university community.
Please email Heather McGhee Peggs (Manager, CRC) if you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality related to the CRC or a G2G Peer Advisor.
